Webmastering / Internet Search

World Wide Web and the Internet:  Know how to use a web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.  Access Internet resources for information using search engines. This assignment will take about 4-5 days.

Your first assignment will be to search for information on the Internet using Internet Explorer. Some of the questions will be easy, while others will take you some time to find. The best approach is to look over the questions, find the ones which you think might be easy and do those first.  If you find yourself searching a question for more than 15-20 minutes, just save the best answer you found.

There are many Search Engines that can help you with your questions: www.yahoo.comwww.go.com, www.askjeeves.com, www. lycos.com, etc... For some of the hard questions, it's is sometimes helpful to try more than one.

Saving your Links:  Once you find the place that answers a question, right click in the Address box at the top of the page and Copy the URL.

Open a Word document and Paste the address. Add any descriptions you like and save the document to your Student folder provided on the K server. Keep doing the same with the other questions. After a few questions, your search document might look like this:

01: http://www.pocketinformant.com/
02: http://www4.alief.isd.tenet.edu/mjurcic/default.htm
07: http://www.alief.isd.tenet.edu/kerr/
23: http://www.fabric8.com/

Remember. I will always be there to assist you and help you find some answers. Just keep me informed about how you are doing.

At the end of the assignment, there will be a test on searching. You will be given 5 question, and 30 minutes to find the answers. Again, you will have to save the addresses where you found the answers in a Word document.
