Friends
The Friends movie will feature an interactive
format for pictures and information of your
friends.
1. images
You'll need about 10 pictures and you will
need to prepare a smaller version sample of each original images. If
you import a high quality image and resize it smaller, the file
size will not be reduced.
In Paint
Shop Pro, open your image, use the
Image / Resize to
reduce the width to 100 and use the
JPG Optimizer to save
it as a jpg. Do all 10 and make sure you don't overwrite
the original pictures which you'll need also.
You'll also need a background image over
which the above images will display. This needs to be pretty large (width
400 and height 1000) and of good quality.
Here is the
image I used.
2. main to friends
We don't want the content pf the movie to appear
suddenly on the stage. A better way is to provide some kind of a
transition. We'll reuse some components in the main movie
you just finished to help with this.
Open your main movie and
File /Save As and
rename it friends. This will make a duplicate of the main movie
under a a different name - friends.
We'll keep the loader scene barely
untouched, but the main scene will need to be changed
drastically.
2a. loader scene:
The only thing that needs to be changed in the loader scene is to
convert the outline layer into a Guide. Later, this
movie will be loaded into the main movie and that already has an
outline. No need for another one.
 |
On the loader scene,
Right Click on the
outline layer and select Guide. (left
image) |
2b. main friends scene:
Go to your Scene
panel and rename main to main friends. This will make it
easier to differentiate the main scene in the main movie and the main
friends scene in the friends movie.

Delete all the layers except
outline, slidein2 and line.

Next, select all the frames from 15
to 25 in the slidein2 layer and move them to the left. (Just
Left Click once anywhere in between and they all will be selected.,
Then, drag them to the left.)

We have to do the same with the frames
in the line layer. Select the frames from 15 to 25 in
the line layer. (Note: For me, this proved hard to
do. Either it wanted to select one frame or all of the frames. Try
this: go to Edit /
Preference and select
Flash 4 Selection Style. Then select frame 15 and while
holding the Shift key,
select frame 25. Disable it after you're done )

With the frames selected, go to
Edit / Copy Frames.
Then select frame 1 (line layer) and
Edit / Paste Frames.
Then, delete all the frames from 12 on. (Select them all and press
Delete twice.)

Make outline a Guide and rename it guide. Rename slidein2 to slidein.
Rename line to slideline.

If you play (Enter),
you should have the rectangle tween in the right pane.
2c. import images:
Go to File / Import
an import all your images files. Delete them when they appear
on the stage. They will be in your
Library, though, for
later use. 2d. actions:
To stop the movie from looping, make a new layer called action.
Insert a key frame on 11 and use the
Action panel to place a
stop().
